Joe lived his whole life in Steger. He was baptized at St. Liborius Church and has been a lifelong member of that church. Joe attended St. Liborius grade school followed by four years at Marian Catholic High School. Joe’s parents, Joe and Julie Zagone, opened Steger Flower Shop in 1951 and, after high school, Joe joined his dad at the Flower Shop. Joe married his wife Marielle in 1987. They have three daughters, Jackie, Katie and Margaret, and five grandchildren, twins Eddie and Alaina, Clare, Mary and Brayden.Â

After Joe’s parents retired in 1993, Marielle and Joe continued to operate the flower shop until it closed in November 2011. At that time, Steger Flower Shop joined forces with Hofmann Florist in Chicago Heights where Joe continues to work as a manager and floral designer. Joe has been a member of Steger Kiwanis Club since 1980 and has been chairman of the annual Kiwanis Peanut Day for many years. Joe has been a member of the Planning and Zoning Board since the late 1990’s and he took part in Steger’s Economic Development Committee from 2002-2006. Joe is currently Chairman of the Stewardship Commission and a member of the Parish Pastoral Council. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

As manager of more than 200 employees at a multimillion-dollar waste management corporation, Ernie Lopez has substantial expertise in negotiation, organization, and human resources.

A Steger resident for almost 30 years, Ernie and his wife, Maureen, have raised their five sons in Steger.

A lifelong area resident, Tim has lived in the Village of Steger since 1999. He is the proud Father of two daughters, Payton and Emma and Step-Father to his son Jake. Tim not only lives in the Village but he also has been operating his business, Perchinski Insurance Agency (Country Financial), in Steger since 2003.

Tim graduated from Bloom Trail High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and Supervision from Prairie State College in 1994. Tim also has received industry designations in Life Underwriters Training Council Fellowship in 2009 and Financial Service Specialists Designation from The American College in 2010. Tim is also very active in the community through coaching, mentoring and volunteering.

William J. Joyce, a lifelong Steger resident and youngest son of longtime Steger Fire Chief Elmer Joyce was first elected Village Trustee in April, 2015, served on the Village of Steger’s Economic Development Committee and the Steger Fire Department prior to becoming Village Trustee.

William attended Steger Public schools, Bloom Trail High School class of 1989, Southern Illinois University, Prairie State College and Triton College.

William is Senior Project Manager at National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) in Chicago, member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 794, and owner of Scratch Masterz.

William is also an Instructor of – American Heart Association – CPR, National Safety Council – Defensive Driving, Illinois Certified Fire Service Instructor I & II, Presenter for Operation Life Saver – Railroad Safety.

In addition to his professional career, William is a member of Steger’s Kiwanis Club, serving multiple times as Club President and Club Vice President & was elected twice Lieutenant Governor of I-I District of Kiwanis International, Winner of the Jim Reed Award (Kiwanis of the Year) Award 2015, President of the Bloom Trail High School Navy Junior ROTC Parent Corps, Sponsor of the Bloom Trail High School Key Club.

William is married to Kimberly and they are the proud parents of two children, William Jr. and Madalyn. William Jr. is attending college and works as a Firefighter EMT for the Village of Crete. Madalyn is attending Bloom Trail High School where she is in the Navy JROTC program.

Cindy was elected Village Trustee in April of 2021.

She and her husband, Joseph, have been residents of Steger for over 24 years and have proudly raised two daughters. While working full-time in Chicago, Cindy earned a Bachelor of Science Degree (Business Management) from Trinity Christian College.  She received an Associates of Science Degree from Robert Morris University and has attended Prairie State College and South Suburban College.

Cindy brings valuable corporate experience to share from working at a global consulting firm (PwC).   While there, she enjoyed supporting property & casualty actuaries such as Partners, Directors, Managers, and Associates for 24 years.  Her experience ranges, but is not limited to, providing administrative, marketing, and human resource assistance. Cindy strongly believes in sharing knowledge and working as a team.  She is self-motivated and is known for taking the initiative to enhance knowledge by training all levels of employees on company systems, on-boarding, and technology.  She believes in networking internally and externally to build strong relationships with everyone she encounters.  

She has also worked as a legal assistant at a specialty law firm filing property tax appeals.  She has experience processing tax appeals at the Assessor, Board of Review, & Property Tax Appeal Board for commercial and residential properties.  She looks forward to sharing her knowledge and resources.

Cindy is a full-time real estate broker.  She enjoys working with clients and assisting them to make the best decision possible when purchasing or selling a home.  

She is known for volunteering by supporting schools, organizations, veteran events, food distribution groups, recycling events, fostering dogs, running clubs, organizing events/festivals, and researching grants to help support communities.
