About Steger

The Village of Steger, located in the southern suburbs of Chicago, in both Cook and Will Counties, is a blue collar community made up of hard working middle-income residents. The Village is presently working on redevelopment plans aimed at attracting new retailers to a town which is a tight-knit, community supportive of its local businesses.

The Village has adopted a series of new policies aimed at attracting and incenting new business development. For example, the Village Hall/Police Department sustained substantial damage in a storm related fire in June of 2014. Rather than simply rebuilding that facility in its previous location, we are looking to use the new facility as a centerpiece for an entirely redeveloped business district. We are in the process of planning that work, as well as adopting the necessary Tax Increment Financing Resolutions to fund it, and incent new mixed-use private development, traffic improvements and streetscape throughout the area.
