On Saturday April 15th 2017 at approximately 12:46 p.m. The Steger Police Department responded to reports of multiple gun shots fired from a vehicle within the 3500 block of Kings Rd. Initial investigation revealed two parked vehicles and a house sustained damage from the rounds. The residents were home at the time and fortunately no one was injured. Witnesses provided emergency dispatch personnel and officers with the fleeing suspect vehicle description.

A Crete Police Officer heard the police radio reports and subsequently observed the suspect vehicle in their jurisdiction not far from the shooting scene. The suspect vehicle was stopped and three occupants were detained for Steger Police. Upon confirmation of the suspect vehicle and evidence of the crime, the three occupants were arrested and transported to the Steger Police Department for further investigation.

The investigation confirmed that this was a targeted attack and not a random act. The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges, all three suspects were transported to the Will County Detention Center pending court hearings.

The Steger Police Department values the partnership it has with many residents and appreciates those residents who provided information that contributed to the identification and arrest of these individuals. As always we continue to encourage residents to be vigil in their neighborhoods and report any and all suspicious activities.
